We’re finally sure that our dreamy winter wedding can happen.

By Erika Lynde

It’s been months since I’ve felt secure about this wedding. I’ve been dreading the thought of canceling on all our guests and thinking all my DIY projects might go to waste. Thank heavens that isn’t going to happen! This week has been full of unexpected surprises and lucky straws.

First, on Tuesday, I got a call from the cleaners. My dress was done and ready to go whenever I could pick it up. Well, the week was a bit busy so I waited until Thursday and, boy, was that a good idea. In my email Wednesday morning was a coupon for 20 percent off my first visit to Holly Cleaners. That’s right folks, fifty smackaroos off my gown cleaning — and clean it was. I never in a million years thought they’d get all the yellow out of my 1950s gown. Yet there it was, sparkling white. I’m telling you, girls, Holly’s is the way to go.

Second, you all know we’ve been stressing so much while buying the house. Money was tight, and the bills kept rolling in. Well, just in the nick of time the IRS saved the day! (It wouldn’t have been an issue if they had done their job back in March, but hey, who’s complaining?) Tuesday night we got a nice surprise in our dwindling bank account. The worries are over. Our tax return FINALLY came in with no warning at all. When Liam called me that morning to tell me the news, I flew into tears. Dramatic, I know, but worth it. We’re getting married! It’s actually going to happen!

With the wedding back on track and piles of boxes cluttering my house, I started to think about the next steps in planning. I took out my trusty timeline and noticed I’m pretty far behind. We still have to find a florist, arrange some sort of transportation and gosh…we still don’t have a DJ. I’ll be one busy bride/homeowner over the next five months. I’m as giddy as a schoolgirl and super excited to keep writing to all of you about this crazy adventure we’re having. Till then I shall be glued to my Pinterest board getting busy planning.
