Rojin and Jon

While Jon and Rojin technically met in high school, they didn’t truly connect until years later – through social media, of all things. From then on there was never any question of whether or not the two would end up together. In fact, just a couple of years later Rojin helped Jon pick out her own engagement ring (although the actual proposal, which included a romantic dinner, was all his doing). They were also on the same page when it came to their actual wedding at the Hotel Viking this past October; both choosing to forgo the tradition of selecting a best man or maid of honor. “Jonny and I have a few really good friends,” Rojin explains. “Not only did I feel that picking a maid of honor would have hurt their feelings, but I felt that it would hurt mine as well. I didn’t want to pick.” They were, however, able to pick their favorite memories from that day. “It was simply being able to enjoy each other, our family and our guests,” says Rojin. “Being so stressed during the planning, I was happy to simply enjoy the outcome.”

But did that mean everything went smoothly the day of? Not quite. Rojin admits there were a few bumps along the way, from delays to rain showers, but she overcame them by sporting a “go with the flow” attitude. As for future brides-to-be, Rojin advises that they decide early on where they are willing to spend a little extra and where they want to budget. “For me, having a good photographer and great entertainment was really important,” she offers. Also, don’t stress about the minor details. “I was really picky and spent a lot of time picking out my invitations. I thought they had to be letter-pressed in cotton paper,” she laughs. “Now, I see that no one probably even noticed.”
