It’s funny how things work out. Hayley Perry and Adam Codega grew up two streets apart. They used to trick-or-treat in the same neighborhoods as kids, and they shared some of the same friends. Still, the two didn’t meet until Match.com intervened.

When the two set about planning their wedding, they took a practical approach. There were things they wanted — like to get married in Newport — and things they knew would be out of their price range — like booking a block of hotel rooms in Newport over Memorial Day weekend. What to do? Compromise. “We booked a block of rooms at NYLO in Warwick instead and then we bused people from the hotel to the site. Nobody complained, and everyone had a good time.” Rather than splurge on flowers, Hayley made her own bouquets from paper and silk flowers. Adam designed all of their printed materials, and they did electronic RSVPs through a wedding website. They also got individual cakes for each guest table rather than one mega cake to feed the crowd. All in all, the day had the exact fun, summer party feel they wanted. “When do you get to have 120 people that you love in one room together? Not often,” says Hayley.
