Ellen and Victor said their vows at a private residence in Warwick with cruising sailboats and the Newport and Jamestown Bridges in the distance. Ellen describes the affair as seaside casual, but says she and Victor didn’t stress about a theme. Their main priority was to reflect their personalities and tastes while keeping the day fun and relaxed for their guests.

Embracing a DIY attitude, the couple developed many unique elements for their wedding and saved some cash along the way. Over the course of their two-year engagement, they scoured consignment stores and estate sales for table decor, collected vintage iron candle holders and repurposed a mantle they found online to serve as a ceremony centerpiece. “You don’t have to spend a fortune to make a large impact,” says Ellen, who calligraphed their invitations and decorative signs.

During the reception, Ellen and Victor stole a private moment away from the crowd. Sitting in a pair of Adirondack chairs outside the tent, the couple observed the party from afar. Ellen suggests other brides do the same. “Sneak away from everyone at some point in the night with your spouse and just be a spectator.” It’s a special way to soak in the day you both worked so hard to create and to appreciate the friends and family gathered to celebrate your future together.
