20 Towers

Forget Tinder: It looks as though Local 121 of Providence is the new matchmaker in town. Having met there by chance in 2012, Chris knew that the restaurant would be the perfect setting for his elaborately planned proposal two years later. Kelly, thinking they were meeting friends for drinks that night, was flabbergasted when they bumped into her then eleven-year-old niece, Haven. The young girl, dressed in a foretelling white lace gown, acted surprised to see the couple before inviting them to come say hello to her mother and father. The private section of the dining room not only revealed Haven’s parents, but a number of Kelly and Chris’s loved ones, both in-person and on FaceTime. Before Kelly had a chance to fully comprehend the scene, Chris was down on one knee.

When it came time for the wedding, however, Kelly and Chris headed south toward the ocean. Kelly says of the venues, “South Ferry Church and the Narragansett Towers are naturally beautiful, so our color scheme aimed to accentuate their original character. Since the wedding was on the Fourth of July, our goal was to balance touches of red, white and blue with romantic and classy elements.” The patriotic celebration went off without a hitch — save for a groomsman’s tie getting lost in the mix (thankfully, Kelly’s father was able to save the day).

The best thing about marriage so far? “Reflecting on how much love and affection we received from family and friends during our wedding weekend, and thinking about how very fortunate we are to have found each other,” they say. “The honeymoon in Grand Cayman was pretty great too.”
