For Your Bachelorette A-Muse-ment

Wine and paint nights are becoming more and more popular, and for good reason. With a paintbrush in one hand and a full glass of wine in the other, even the most artistically-challenged can enjoy this night out. Muse Paintbar, a small space on the East Side of Providence, has jumped on this trend and with easels, paint and an abundance of wine and beer it’s also become the perfect spot for a Bachelorette party. As much fun as the regular paint nights are, hosting a private party at Muse means you can make the occasion your own.

Once you arrive, your first task is to decide (as a group) what you’d like to paint. If you’re not in love with any of their 700 already-displayed paintings, you can ask the instructors to create a custom painting for you – whether it’s from an existing picture or from your imagination. No matter what you choose, you will have an expert teaching you how to paint every stroke.

Before arriving, remember to put on something you aren’t too fond of. Even though you want to look nice for your Bachelorette party, be mindful that while they do give you an apron, it won’t cover everything – and this paint will stain! Mixing paint and wine can make for a fun night but it’s not particularly beneficial for your favorite outfit.

The nice thing about Muse is you don’t have to worry about bringing anything with you. The paint, canvas and brushes are all waiting for you when you arrive. Refreshments are available for purchase at their bar, including a selection of different wines, sangrias and beers. When you’re ready to begin painting, the instructor (who most likely also doubles as a bartender at Muse when they are not hosting a class) will talk you through every step. Don’t get flustered if he or she seems to be going too quickly at first – they often take breaks to walk around and help people individually. Whether you manage to get your painting exactly like the model or you take a more abstract approach, you don’t have to be the next Picasso to enjoy this event!

The details: Hosting a private event costs between $35 to $45 per person, depending on how many people and the time of the party. For a larger group (fifty or more), Muse can travel to your location (though they are able to host up to seventy-five people in their studio). Check out what they have coming up on their events page and plan your exciting girls’ night out ahead of time (Note: Some nights they offer attendees a free drink!)
