5 Wacky Wedding Workouts

Okay, wacky might be a strong word for these workouts (we just like alliteration around here, alright?) but they aren’t exactly your traditional running routes, either. These exercises will not only get you fit so the dress can fit, but also might just let you have a little bit of fun with your bride tribe along the way.

(Bungee) Jump-start

The only one of its kind in Rhode Island, Elevate Fitness’ GOFLO Bungee Fitness Classes are taking aerobics to a whole new level. The GOFLO Trainer system (think spring loaded power bands – just like bungee cords) is low impact and easy on the joints, and it allows users to vary their cardio and strength workouts with numerous new, challenging and fat burning routines. Leap at the opportunity to try this new thrill out with your fiance and/or wedding party, and check here to see when classes are offered.

Work It

Pole Dancing has been a pretty hot (excuse the pun) trend on the fitness scene for a while now and for good reason: It makes for a stellar core workout, it lets you feel unabashedly sexy, and it has the potential for plenty of I-can’t-believe-I’m-upside-down-on-a-poll fun with your girls. And whether you’re looking for a bachelorette activity or classes ranging from Pole 101 to Pole Flexibility to Pole Choreo, Providence Pole Fitness has it all.

Defy Gravity

You’ve probably seen people twirling around midair in ribbons all over your social media feed for ages now, but did you know that the aesthetically pleasing activity also increases body strength, flexibility and coordination? Pretty cool, if you ask us.  Arielle Arts offers 55-minute private (solo, duo or group) lessons at their training school in East Greenwich, teaching everything from how to flawlessly move through the air with Aerial Fabric to Acro dancing.

Kick Ass

An oldie but a goodie, kickboxing classes are the perfect blend of cardio and strength-training (a.k.a. the key to flat tummies and toned arms!). Sign up for Christina Rondeau’s (of Christina Rondeau Kickboxing in Johnston) Bridal Fitness Program and get three months of personal training sessions, unlimited use of the gym, nutritional consultations and more.

Be Flexible

If you find yourself on the edge of mental breakdown over the “smallest” of wedding planning matters, maybe you just need to let yourself breathe… while doing a downward dog! The Innerlight Center for Yoga and Meditation in Middletown offers a Wedding Yoga Experience package that is designed to help you find unity and relaxation amongst all the chaos. Depending on what you sign up for, perks can include anything from 4 to 6 weeks of private yoga instruction to group yoga sessions at your bachelorette party, bridal shower or even on the morning of your wedding.
