What is it about shows like “Boardwalk Empire” and “Downton Abbey” (not to mention the newest adaptation of The Great Gatsby, set to be released in May) that hold such appeal? Part of it is the fashion — that glamorous and oh-so-iconic art deco style of the 1920s. The popular small and silver screen dramas have influenced 2013 runway collections, and — much to our delight — those collections include bridal wear. The style is romantic, feminine and sophisticated (think pearls, lace, gold, headpieces, feathers and sequins). Soft ivories, and even champagne hues, are so doable. Silhouettes vary but the art deco style often balances light, ethereal fabrics with intricate, liberal bead work. Jenny Packham’s 2013 fall collection had some jaw dropping examples, but you don’t need that kind of a budget to rock this style.

This look is from the fashion spread in our 2013 magazine. We paired a strapless lace gown with lovely beading and scalloped detailing (Eden Bridals, $1,000, at Erina Boutique, East Greenwich) with a multi-strand statement necklace (Jennifer Elizabeth, $825, Warren), and a gold headband ($249, Ana’s Bridal Boutique). Gorgeous!
