Tell us how you met: Michaela was in her first year as grad student working towards her master’s degree in social work. A friend from school, who at the time was dating Erik’s best friend, Steve, insisted Michaela meet Erik. They arranged a night to all get together. Although Erik forgot to get Michaela’s number, and he gave her an awkward hug at the end of the night, it was love at first sight. Erik and Michaela could not be more opposite — she a clinical social worker and Erik working in finance in Boston. They became inseparable despite some bumps along the way (Erik asked Michaela why she ordered a glass of red wine on their first date at Zooma because it “stains your teeth”). It turns out Erik was a true romantic and completely surprised Michaela by proposing on July 30, five days after her twenty-eighth birthday at East Matunuck beach, where Michaela spent her childhood summers.
